2012-2013 Kids Local’s Program News
Thank you for your interest in the Snow King Sports School Local’s Programs for 2012-2013!
We are excited to guide your children in developing a passion for winter, for Snowsports and for the mountain environment. As you will notice we offer programs from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in order to take advantage of the only night skiing in the valley. Our Saturday and Sunday programs are designed to provide options for families who are busy during the weekday evening hours. Our hope is to provide an opportunity for all our local children to learn!
Transportation: Whether it’s the activity bus from Colter Elementary, or the JES bus route that stops at the base of the King, we’ll have a bus greeter to meet kids as they arrive and help them find equipment, get changed and get out on snow. The school district does not allow skis and poles on the buses, but students can carry their Big 5 plus their ‘Ski 3′ – Boots, helmet, goggles (or glasses) – onto the bus with them. Parents may drop off skis at any time during the day in the vicinity of the bottom of the rope tow.
Our Beginner Area Rope Tow is located alongside Snow King Avenue. This provides beginner with user-friendly terrain ideal for developing skills to take up the hill. There is also a bit of steeper terrain near the top of the rope tow, to provide a better transition to the Rafferty Lift. Come watch your child learn to ski or ride.
Our expanded Snowboard Program happens on Sunday afternoon. This move allows us to offer a program that is only 5 weeks long. It gives children a chance to learn snowboarding without committing the time and money of the whole season. It also allows kids who want to ski and snowboard the chance to do both. Check out Snowboarding in the powder of winter or the warmth of springtime! Either time is great at “The King”!
We know that finding recreation dollars can be difficult these days, but we are competitive with the surrounding resorts and reasonable when you consider our convenient location and experienced instructor staff. Snow King has played a large role in developing many life-long enthusiasts of winter sports, as well as world class skier and riders. Please continue to support your local Town Hill so that it can continue to support ski and ride education for the local and visitor alike.
Again, thank you for your interest and if you should require any other information please contact us here at the Mountain Sports School. Links to registration forms are at the top of this page.
Let’s make this a great season and thanks for supporting your “Town Hill.”
Sincerely,
Scotty McGee
